The Supply Chain Initiative (SCI) is a joint initiative launched by 8 EU level associations. They represent the food and drink industry (FoodDrinkEurope), the branded goods manufacturers (AIM), the retail sector (the European Retail Round Table (ERRT), EuroCommerce, EuroCoop and Independent Retail Europe), SMEs (UEAPME), and agricultural traders (CELCAA).
The purpose of the SCI is to promote fair business practices in the food supply chain as a basis for commercial dealings. The SCI also aims to ensure that companies address disputes in a fair and transparent manner whilst reassuring the complainant that they will not be subject to retaliation.
Ultimately it is hoped that the SCI will lead to a genuine culture change and benefit all players in the food supply chain.
Companies along the food supply chain are welcome to join the SCI. To do so, every company is required to respect the principles of good practice in trading relations and to respond to a number of requirements aimed at integrating the principles into company day-to-day operations.
Tools will help you implement the requirements of the process and will control the application of the Principles.
